BoardGameSpam began streaming after Pia found a welcoming, diverse and affirming community of gamers on Twitch. As a immigrant and new mom, carving out time for fun and relaxation can be difficult but streaming has been a way to prioritize play and connection with others.

Mr Peebles, MP, even sometimes known as Mark, is a teacher by day and, in his free time, a collector and player of all types of board games. He started streaming to add a social element for his pupils during lockdown and it blossomed into a 3 times a week time to play games with online friends, and now it’s rare for pupils to join in! In his free time his passions are playing new board games, creating 3D printed board game inserts and watching movies just to mention a few. Jessy Damon, aka Jess_CCG, is a woman of color, board game Twitch streamer, and owner of Community Connection Gaming - an events host providing safe, inclusive spaces in the board game industry. Playing tabletop board games was a big part of her childhood, but it wasn't until 2015 that she became more involved in the designer board game hobby. As her game library grew and she began to attend gaming conventions, she noticed a lack of diversity of those who play tabletop board games, especially those who look like her. So in creating CCG, her goal is to bring more awareness to this issue, by highlighting diverse voices and welcoming safe spaces, because everyone deserves the opportunity to play board games!
